2018 Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk

The Tucson High Red Army SkillsUSA CTSO participated in a walk to support breast cancer research on Sunday, the 21st of October. There was a total of ten people from the club who participated. The group wore matching t-shirts made by the Graphic Design and Digital Printing classes. The walk started at Armory Park, in downtown Tucson where there were many tents and tons of people. The walk was about two miles long and took place all around downtown. The group supported the event with the custom-made T-shirts and by joining in on the walk at 7am. The students who are in The Red Army are enrolled in the technology classes (CMT) and were recruited based on their technical capabilities and artistic talents but, we invite everyone who attends Tucson High to join even if they are not taking a media class, so if you’re interested in a joining a technical career/leadership club, join the SkillsUSA Red Army or enroll in a Communications Media Technology class next year!

Breast Cancer Walk
Going to the breast cancer walk was something new for me. I’ve never participated in something like it. I enjoyed it a lot cause it’s the community gathering up to support a cause which in this case was breast cancer. Seeing all those people wearing pink shirts and walking was something amazing. There was music and booths, people were having a great time.
We walked around downtown and while we were walking there was music playing from the steel drums. People laughing and talking having a good time. The walk wasn’t really long and it wasn’t hot either which was great. The walk started at 8:00am and when we finished the walk it was 8:47am. Time went by really fast. I would like to do this again it was a fun experience. Even though I don’t have any CMT class this year I like participating in events like this. I participated in events last year, which was when I had a CMT class. But even though I didn’t get it this year I still wanted to keep the connection with SkillsUSA.
