Good morning. Please do your attendance.

A few students will be testing today.

For the rest of you, your “day in the life” or “school tour” video is due today. I mean, it was due YESTERDAY, but that goal was only hit by a few folks.

If you finished that video, make sure you’ve uploaded it to YouTube and shared the link into the Google classroom.

Next, watch the first two videos on this page please. There is a worksheet to go along with it that is due today.

Thursday, April 11, 2019

Please do your attendance.

Please finish filming your “reverse video” project. Remember, you need a few seconds before and a few seconds after the action that you’re filming. Those are called “handles” or “heads and tails.”

Let’s assemble the videos you’ve filmed today. You should have shared all the videos with your group using Google drive.

In order to use the videos, you’ll need to DOWNLOAD them to your computer. Create a folder on your desktop and name it “REVERSE VIDEO.” Put them there.

If your computer is having trouble playing back the videos, call me over.

Tuesday, April 9, 2019

Good morning! Please do your attendance.

Remember, shot lists (with all team names at the top) MUST be in the Google Classroom. I’m grading them today.

Yesterday, you were to have filmed at LEAST two shots. Today, you’ll continue – either filming or editing.

Again, please upload all footage into a shared folder on Google Drive, so that everyone in your group can access the raw footage.

Project is due Friday at the lastest.

Monday, April 8, 2019

Morning. I hope you had a great weekend. 32 more school days!!!

First, please do your attendance.

You should have uploaded your shot list (with all team names at the top) to the Google Classroom.

Today we’ll be filming. You will work in groups, but you can film on your own. You need to each COMPLETE two shots by the end of class today.

I suggest you upload them into a shared folder on Google Drive, so that everyone can access the raw footage.

Project is due Friday at the lastest.

Friday, April 5, 2019

Please do your attendance.

You will be doing one of these things today:

  • Uploading your completed edit.
  • Brainstorming your idea for your “film in reverse.”
  • Creating a shotlist for the “film in reverse” with your group.”
  • Uploading your shot list (with all team names at the top) to the Google Classroom.
  • Filming.

I’m including a few more examples here.

Backwards video.

Another backwards video.

More cool backwards ideas.

1. Your cut of this week’s project (uploaded to YouTube then shared in the Google Classroom).

2. Your shotlist (by group – each person has 5 ideas) – Shared in the Google Classroom.

Monday, April 1, 2019

Hey guys. I had to be away from class today.

Please do your attendance.

Today is your last day to finish editing what you filmed on Thursday.

You need to edit the video. It should be GOOD – that is, remove the errors, and adjust the volume so it’s at a standard -12 dB.

Make sure you download appropriate B roll. Find the clips you want to add, then download them at Add them in to cover any edits you make in the A roll (your team anchors, the work we filmed in the studio).

Upload your completed video to YouTube, then share the link into your google classroom. If you’ve forgotten how to export here’s how:

Insert an “in point” at the start of your video (letter “i”) and an “out point” at the end of your video (letter “o”). Then hold down the command key and click the letter “a.” That will select everything in your time line that you want to export. After that, go up to the menu, go down to export>video. A new window will open. In that window, make sure you’re exporting as H.264. Click on the blue text and name your video, then make sure you set it to export to your desk top.

Once the export is complete, open YouTube, upload the video from your desktop. Lastly, copy and paste the URL from the video and add it to the google classroom.

Ask your neighbors if you have any questions.

See you Tuesday!

Tuesday, March 26, 2019

Good morning. Please do your attendance.

Yesterday you learned about B roll. We will have a quiz on it on Wednesday.

Today, I’d like you to watch this video. It explains ALL the tools in the tool box (tool panel) in Adobe Premiere Pro. Any idea why I want you to learn the tools?

I’d like you to download and save this handout to your desktop. I can print out a copy if you’d like one – just come ask me. Look it over for a bit. We will have a quiz on the tools on Wednesday as well.

Here are some flashcards for you to practice with.

To prepare for our quiz tomorrow, let’s Kahoot!!!

Monday, March 4, 2019

Good morning! Please do your attendance.

LOST ITEMS: we’re looking for a purple flower hairclip. It was on the front row on Friday morning.

  • If you left your headphones in your computer, come see me to identify.
  • If you left a charger (plug) for a device here, please come see me to identify.

Today we’ll be in the studio. Based on your editing last week, you now know what to look for when filming. Let’s make sure we stay on top of that today.

Thursday, February 28, 2019

Good morning! Please do your attendance.

Today, please finalize your edit of the announcements.

Start by opening your project, then open Google and look for your image. Make sure it’s a LARGE file (enter search term>click on images>click on tools>click on size>choose “large”).

Once you find the image, you MUST OPEN the image (do NOT just right click and copy or save). Once it opens in a new window, THEN you can right click>save to desktop.

You have 5 minutes to complete that, then I’ll give you instructions to key out the green screen with your image.

Monday, February 25, 2019

Good morning! Please do your attendance.

You’ll have a guest teacher today.  I’m sure you’ll behave well. Should you choose NOT to, you will be sitting in detention tomorrow.

You only have ONE assignment today. That is to finish your Titan TV edit.

If you need help, ask your neighbor or students in the class who’ve already finished their work. And remember, the step by step video is still available – just scroll back to last Tuesday’s class post and click the link.

I’ll see you tomorrow.

Thursday, February 14, 2019

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Make sure you do your attendance.

You have today to finish your PSA on overpopulation. We have reduced it to only SIX shots.

6 photos and underneath each image, the SOUND you envision for your PSA. Music? Narrator? Actors?

Please call me over once you feel done with your project and I’ll give you some feedback! They are DUE TODAY. Submit them to the Google classroom.

Monday, February 11, 2019

Morning. Please do your attendance.

Before we film the PSA, I’d like you to learn how to “pre-viz.” That’s short for pre-visualization. It sounds more complex that it is. it’s basically just storyboarding.

And to make it even simpler, please go to this website and create an account. Write down your log in and password somewhere, so you can go back to it all year long.

Wednesday, February 6, 2019

Hello. Please do your attendance.

I’m out sick today. So please do the assigned reading in Achieve 3000. It’s called “Professionalism in the Workplace.”

Also, you should do some research on your choice for the Overpopulation PSA. By the end of class, you should have a paragraph written about your PSA.

You must also begin a SHOTLIST for it. 2 column (shot size in the left column, actual visuals in the right column).  Explain what we’ll be seeing in your PSA. You should have at least 10 shots by the end of class.

Keep it and I’ll look at them at the start of class tomorrow.

Monday, February 4, 2019

Good morning. I hope you had a good weekend! Please do your attendance.

This week, you will decide which contest you will be entering and with which team, the population contest or the TPD public safety one.

Today, you need to google examples of PSAs for:

  1. drunk driving
  2. pedestrian safety
  3. population issues

Also, make sure your “How To” video is in the google classroom and that you’ve done Achieve3000.

Thursday, January 31, 2019

Good morning. Don’t forget to do your attendance.

Progress reports are due next week, so let’s spend today getting caught up.

Check your grade on StudentView. I’m currently putting in grades for your note takers.

Also, please turn in your “studio worksheet.” You were to complete it and list all the jobs you’ve done in the studio over the past two weeks. It’s worth 100 points, so please fill it in completely.

It’s due at the end of class today.

Monday, January 28, 2019

Good morning. Don’t forget to do your attendance.

I hope you all had a good weekend.

I’m at a conference today. You have TWO assignments.

  1. Achieve 3000 – read the article “Enthusiasm and Attitude” and then do the activity. The score you make on it will be transferred into the grade book, so don’t rush through or guess.
  2. Once you complete that, you need to complete your How To video, export it and upload it to YouTube. In order to get a grade, you must share the YouTube link into the Google classroom.

Friday, January 25, 2019

Good morning. Please  do your attendance.

Today is our final day of training in the studio. You need to complete the worksheet that lists your positions. All the squares should be filled in. It is worth 100 points.

You were to acquaint yourself with this powerpoint over the past few days. We’ll have a quiz over it.

Finally, I have a workshop to attend Monday, so you’ll have a sub. Your assignment will be on Achieve 3000.

Please be respectful of the substitute.
