Activity 5: DOF

  1. The hardest part about photographing was to catch a good moment.
  2.  You can control DOF is f-stop
  3. My favorite photograph was the one of Destiny sitting at the tree because of the lighting and the moment including how her clothes go with the tree making if seem more like a fall feel
  4.  When taking peoples portraits it can feel a bit weird depending on the person you’re photographing because some can be very open and excited while others can be shy which makes it a bit harder to take a portrait.

Assignment 6 Composition III: Merger and Simplicity

  1. The compositional guideline for this photograph is forced perspective because there is an illusion to make it seem the the baseball is larger than the guy standing next to it, including asymmetry and merger.
  2. The quality of light is direct lighting
  3. The thing that makes this photograph successful is it smoothy merges together

  1. This photograph is an example of  forced perspective because it is made to seem like the tree is being held by the persons fingers this photograph is also an example of merger
  2. The quality of light is diffused lighting
  3. The thing that makes this photo successful is how the photographer chose the angle for this photograph

  1. This image is an example of simplicity because of how the main object of this photo is in focus while the background doesn’t catch too much attention away from the main object and this photo also includes asymmetry.
  2. The quality of lighting in this photograph is silhouette
  3. The thing that makes this photo successful is how the photographer focused on the weed and blurred the sun in the background

  1. This photograph is an example of simplicity because the background doesn’t catch too much attention and this photograph is also an example of symmetry
  2. The type of lighting used for this photograph is diffused lighting
  3. The thing that makes this photograph successful is how in focus and detailed the plant is while the background is just a clear blue

Activity 5

1.) This image is an example of Shallow Depths of Fields because the focal point of the image is the singular flower which is focused but the background is blurred out

2.) The focal point of this image is the lone flower

3.) The compositional guideline of this photograph would be symmetry

1.) This image is also an example of Shallow Depths of Fields because most of the background is blurred out

2.) The focal point of this image is the yellow ball

3.) The compositional guideline of this image is rule of thirds

1.) This image is an example of Deep Depths of Field because everything is mostly focused

2.) The focal points of this image is the girl and the tree

3.) This images compositional guidelines is asymmetrical

1.) This image is also an example of Deep depths of fields because everything is mostly in focus

2.) The focal points of this image is the trees and the lake

3.) The compositional guidelines of this image is symmetry

3:Shutter Speed

1.

Assignment Instructions: I give myself a 14/20 because i believe it reaches all of the requirements but there might be a photo missing

Quality/Technical: I give myself a 18/20 because I edited all of my photographs

Composition/Design: I give myself a 14/20 because I feel that there may be a photograph or two that isn’t utilizing a compositional guideline or element of design

Communication/Content: I give myself a 14/20 because I don’t feel I managed my time as well as i could and I could have gotten better photographs

2.

How comfortable are you using TV mode? I am some what comfortable but it still needs some time to get used to it.

Describe how shutter speed affects motion in our pictures? Shutter speed affects our photographs by timing the movement and how much exposure is let in and the speed of our photographs affecting the total outcome of the photograph.

Which photograph are you happiest with and why? I am most happiest with my fast shutter speed photo because number one it took a long time to take and number two because it captured a beautiful moment.

How do you think you could improve your work? I think i could improve my work by taking more time to take photos and use my time more efficiently.

Assignment 3

This photograph is an example of panning because the camera is following the cyclist while he is biking and is going at the same speed leaving the background blur except for the person and their bike.

This is an example of light writing because the guy is flashing the light around to make an A and the camera is only focusing on the light.

This is an example of slow shutter speed because the camera is showing all of the star trails.

This photograph is an example fast shutter speed because it is catching the girl in the moment.

Quality of Light

  1. I personally prefer Diffused lighting because the lighting is not too harsh or direct and it doesn’t cause too much attention to a certain object.
  2. I am most happiest with my photograph of the tree because of how different the colors are and how it is angled
  3. I am least happiest with my photograph of people walking in the hallway because i could have angled it better and taken it in a better place.
  4. I give myself a 14/20 on assignment directions because i edited all my photos but i didn’t submit the required amount.
  5. I give myself a 14/20 because some photographs are weirdly angled
  6. i give myself  a 14/20 because there may be some parts of my photographs that don’t follow the guidelines
  7.  i give myself a 15/20 because some of my photographs aren’t edited i my style but i made most use of my time

Assignment #2

This photo shows a rule of thirds because the tree isn’t directly in the middle and the type of lighting is diffused lighting because the sun has no direct lighting on the tree or the building and it really has no shadow of any kind. The two different tool i use to edit this photograph was the tone curve and the cropping tool to have a more focus on the tree. I did feel like the koala bear at times when i was editing my photos and realized i need more of an asymmetrical, rule of thirds, or symmetrical photos but i was mostly on track.

A: 16/20 because i followed all instructions and edited all my photographs

Q: 15/20 because I edited all my photographs but there my have been a bit too much exposure in one photo

C: 16/20 because I did edit all parts that needed to be edited but i may have missed some small spots

C: 16/20 because I always change my photographs that still meet the requirements but still fit my style

Activity 2

The definition of “Composition” is how you choose to arrange things in a photograph

This photo represents a symmetrical photo because both sides are almost exactly alike and share the same features. This photo also has diffused lighting because of the lighting created from the clouds and there is no direct lighting in any way.

This photo represents the rule of thirds because the main focus of the image is on the impact point instead of the middle like most symmetrical images, and this photo also represents direct lighting because of how harsh the shadows are.

This photo represents a symmetrical image because both sides of the image are similar even though they aren’t exactly alike, this photo also represents diffused lighting because there is no direct sunlight or harsh shadows.

This photo represents the rule of thirds image because the building is not directly in the middle and the lighting of this image is diffused because the shadows slowly transition and aren’t harsh.

This photo represents an asymmetrical image because the two objects balance the image and the lighting is diffused because the shadows aren’t too harsh.

This photo represents asymmetrical images because like the last on the 2 objects balance the image and the lighting is diffused because there isn’t too harsh of shadows or lighting in any way.

QoL. Activity

The Quality of this lighting in this image is Silhouettes, this image is silhouette because the lighting behind the deer is bright casting the deer and trees to be dark almost as if they were a shadow.

This image is Silhouette because of how the buildings and other objects in this image are darkened compared to the background which is much brighter than the building and objects.

This image is Direct lighting because the sunlight is directly hitting the chair and the buildings are casting a dark shadow in the background.

This image is Defused lighting because the shadows transition from dark to light and the shadows aren’t too harsh.

This image has Defused lighting because the shadows aren’t too harsh and they transition from dark to light.

This photo has Direct lighting because the shadows are a bit harsh and the sun is directly on the woman standing in the street.
